In Los Angeles, authorities said Saturday that the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was involved in a hit-and-run in California that left a parked car with major damage. Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Yountville, California, on Friday. According to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, the 86-year-old was driving his brown convertible when he struck a vehicle that was legally parked along the road. The collision resulted in what authorities described as “major” damage to the parked car. No injuries were reported during the incident.

A witness observed the collision and contacted 911. Shortly after the event, sheriff’s deputies located Pelosi on a road approximately a quarter of a mile from the scene. His vehicle sustained front-end damage. When questioned by officers, Pelosi reportedly stated that he was aware he had hit something but was uncertain about the timing or the specific cause of the damage.

The Napa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Pelosi did not have alcohol in his system. Because no injuries occurred, the office has recommended a misdemeanor charge for fleeing the scene of an accident. Officials have also referred Pelosi to the Department of Motor Vehicles to undergo a standard process for evaluating his driving status, which is a common procedure for older drivers. A representative for Nancy Pelosi did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

This incident follows a 2022 conviction for Pelosi, who pleaded guilty to misdemeanor driving under the influence in Napa County. In that case, he was sentenced to five days in jail and three years of probation. He served two days in custody and received credit for two additional days due to good conduct, leaving one day to be served in a court work program. His probation terms included a three-month drinking driver course, the installation of an ignition interlock device, and payment of approximately $5,000 in victim restitution plus nearly $2,000 in fines. Earlier that same year, Pelosi was also the victim of a violent home invasion in San Francisco, where he was severely beaten with a hammer.
