New video footage and an eyewitness account have shed light on the medical incident involving Senator Mitch McConnell last month, showing the lawmaker being transported to an ambulance on a stretcher. A neighbor residing near the senator’s Washington, D.C., home reported seeing significant emergency activity outside the residence at approximately 8:30 a.m. on June 14, noting that two ambulances, a fire truck, and Capitol Police officers had blocked the street.

According to the neighbor, emergency responders spent about 30 minutes at the scene before wheeling an individual out on a stretcher. While the person’s face was not clearly visible in the footage, the neighbor observed that the individual was covered by an orange blanket with their feet exposed, which appeared motionless. The neighbor further recounted that another resident on the block confirmed the identity of the individual as McConnell after witnessing his face, adding that the senator was not wearing an oxygen mask at the time.

Videos taken by the neighbor show emergency responders wheeling a person on a stretcher toward an ambulance. The videos are shot from some distance, and the face of the person is not visible. Once in the ambulance, the person’s lower legs appear to be covered by an orange blanket, but feet are visible. When questioned by the neighbor about the nature of the situation, officers initially characterized it as a “medical emergency” but declined to confirm if it involved the senator, stating only that they would secure the street for anyone. An audio recording of EMS communications, which was later published by an independent journalist, indicated that responders were dispatched to the home for an unconscious person experiencing “cardiac arrest,” with mentions of “CPR in progress.”

The neighbor noted that while the responders acted with efficiency, they did not appear to be in a state of panic, and the emergency vehicles departed the scene without their sirens activated. Despite the incident, McConnell’s staff has provided no details regarding the nature of his hospitalization or his current condition, and a spokesperson has declined to comment on the matter.

In the weeks following the event, speculation regarding the senator’s health has grown. Several high-profile Republicans, including Senate Majority Leader John Thune, have stated they have spoken with McConnell recently. Additionally, CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings reported that he held a phone conversation with the senator on Tuesday, describing his voice as strong and noting that McConnell felt well enough to conduct the call.
