A violent shooting incident occurred on Saturday night at the Salsa on St. Clair festival in Toronto, leaving two people dead and five others wounded. The shooting took place near St. Clair Avenue West and Arlington Avenue during the event, which is recognized as Canada’s largest Latin street festival.
Toronto Police spokesperson Shannon Eames confirmed the casualty figures, noting that 2 suspects were initially sought by investigators as a significant police presence was deployed to the scene immediately following the attack. Authorities have stated that the suspect responsible for the shooting remains at large, and they have not yet released further details regarding the individual’s identity or description.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford addressed the tragedy on social media, expressing his devastation over the senseless violence that claimed two lives and resulted in injuries to others. He extended his thoughts to the victims, their families, and all those affected by the incident.
