The legendary bus route 666 has made a comeback in Poland, resuming its journey from Kraków to the Baltic seaside destination of Hel after being absent for two years. The route designation had been altered to 669 back in 2023 due to objections raised by Christian organizations regarding the service’s link to the “number of the beast.”
The service has been relaunched by FlixBus and has immediately reclaimed its status as a cult favorite. Certain passengers chose to ride the bus specifically for the uniqueness of traveling on line 666 to Hel, with one rider quipping that the trip was essentially the “Highway to Hell.”
Conversely, other travelers expressed their superstition, noting that they would personally avoid riding on a vehicle marked with such a number. The journey, which spans more than 13 hours, has evolved into a tourist destination in itself, attracting travelers from all over Poland who are keen to partake in one of the nation’s most distinctive transit experiences.
