A significant police operation is currently unfolding in Berlin following reports that a man has taken a woman hostage inside a supermarket. According to an official statement from local authorities, the incident is taking place at a Rewe supermarket located in the Marienfelde district of the German capital.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that they have already established contact with the man involved in the standoff. The operation, which involves armed police officers equipped with protective gear, began at approximately 10 p.m. local time (0800 UTC).
Visual evidence from the scene, including footage shared on social media, shows a heavy police presence surrounding the building. Several emergency and police vehicles have been deployed to the area, and authorities have cordoned off a portion of the street to secure the perimeter. Onlookers have gathered near the site of the incident to observe the developing situation.
