Hokkaido has welcomed Japan’s inaugural Dusit Collection property following the July opening of WE Hotel Toya. Originally established in 2018, the hotel has undergone a rebranding to become the third addition to the group’s Japanese portfolio, joining existing locations such as ASAI Kyoto Shijo and Dusit Thani Kyoto.

Tucked away on the shores of Lake Tōya on Japan’s northernmost island, the retreat features a design that integrates contemporary architecture with natural materials. This aesthetic is intended to mirror the tranquility of the surrounding forests and the caldera lake, offering panoramic views of a landscape widely recognized for its volcanic features and hot springs.

Chanin Donavanik, Group CEO of Dusit International, highlighted the strategic importance of the Japanese market, noting that the debut of the Dusit Collection serves as a significant milestone. According to Donavanik, the property reflects the brand’s commitment to Thai-inspired hospitality while emphasizing thoughtful design, local connections, and personalized service.

Dining experiences at the hotel are anchored by the EZO Cuisine concept, which focuses on the mantra of “delicious local blessings.” Additionally, The Noodle Bar offers a menu featuring Thai staples, including spicy Tom Yum noodles and the coconut-based curry dish Khao Soi. Guests can also visit the TARU Bar, named after the Japanese term for a wooden cask, to enjoy a curated list of beverages, including organic Japanese teas sourced from the company’s own garden in Kyoto.
