The United States Men’s National Team has officially launched its 2026 FIFA World Cup journey on home turf. The team secured a commanding 4-1 victory against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, marking a strong start to the tournament. This event holds special significance as the U.S. serves as one of three host nations, alongside Canada and Mexico, ending a 32-year hiatus since the country last hosted the prestigious competition.

The current roster features a blend of seasoned World Cup veterans and newcomers, many of whom possess valuable experience playing in top European leagues. Bolstered by home-field advantage and an expanding national fan base, the team remains optimistic about its prospects. Reflecting on the team’s potential, one team representative remarked, “I have no doubt that we could potentially win.”

For the tournament, the U.S. has been placed in Group D and participated in three group stage matches throughout June. Following the group stage, the tournament proceeds to the round of 16, scheduled from July 4 to July 7, followed by the quarterfinals from July 9 to July 10. The semifinals are set for July 14, with the final match slated for July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

This year’s World Cup is a massive undertaking, featuring 48 teams competing in 104 matches over a 39-day period. The U.S. team enters this tournament looking to build upon their previous appearance in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they reached the round of 16 after missing the 2018 tournament in Russia.
