EUobserver is driven by a diverse team of experienced journalists and leadership who bring extensive backgrounds in European affairs, technology, and investigative reporting. Lisbeth, who founded the publication in 2000, leads the organization, holding responsibility for strategic planning, performance, and effective leadership. She is a graduate of the Danish School of Media and Journalism and previously worked as an editor, analyst, and journalist for various Danish media outlets.

The editorial staff includes seasoned professionals with global experience. Matthew joined the team in June 2018, bringing past experience as an editor for DPA in Berlin and AFP in Paris, as well as a reporter for The Guardian in London. Benjamin, another veteran reporter and editor, joined after working at the Brussels-based publication Euractiv, with his work appearing in outlets such as The Guardian, Private Eye, Africa Confidential, and the East African.

Coverage of specialized topics is provided by journalists like Nikolaj, who has focused on home affairs since joining in 2012. Originally from Denmark with a background living in France and Belgium, he received the King Baudouin Foundation grant for investigative journalism in 2010. Andrew, who is Polish but raised in the UK, has contributed reporting on foreign and security affairs since 2005, having also written for The Telegraph, The Times of London, and The Guardian.

The team also features expertise in the green economy and technology sectors. Wester, a Dutch journalist focused on the green economy, joined in September 2021 after serving as editor-in-chief of Motherboard and working as a climate economy journalist for The Correspondent. Alejandro, who joined in September 2022, is an Ecuadorian, German, and American journalist based in Amsterdam who brings a background in science and tech reporting, having previously served as the publisher of TNW and editor at VICE’s Motherboard. Rounding out the team is Elena, who joined in 2019.
