Harry and Meghan to Stay at Royal Residence During UK Visit

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are set to stay in a royal residence during their upcoming visit to the United Kingdom next month. This trip marks their first visit to the country in four years, sparking optimism regarding a potential reconciliation with the royal family.

CNN understands that the couple will be accompanied by their two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5. This visit will be the first time the entire family has traveled to the UK together since 2022, when they participated in the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Although a palace source previously indicated that the Sussexes had been offered accommodation on the royal estate for past visits, this marks the inaugural instance of the family accepting such an invitation.

The family intends to split their time between a royal residence and private accommodation throughout the duration of the visit. Since stepping back from senior royal duties in 2020 and relocating to California to seek financial independence, the couple has experienced a well-documented rift with the monarchy, often citing tabloid intrusion, complex family dynamics, and institutional racism as primary motivators for their exit.

While Harry has made several solo trips to the UK, and Meghan attended the late Queen’s funeral in 2022, Harry notably attended his father King Charles III’s coronation alone in 2023. A meeting between the Prince and his father last September—the first in 19 months—offered a brief moment of connection during the King’s cancer treatment. Harry, however, remains estranged from his brother, Prince William. Most recently, Harry traveled to London in January for legal proceedings involving a lawsuit against the publisher of the Daily Mail.

Security concerns have previously been a point of contention for Harry, especially following the removal of his taxpayer-funded protection by the UK Home Office. While specific security arrangements for this upcoming trip remain undisclosed, staying within a royal residence ensures the family will be covered by existing security protocols.

The July itinerary includes events centered on the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. Harry, who founded the sporting competition for injured military personnel, will also attend other engagements in the Midlands. The visit will commence with Invictus-related events in London where Meghan will join him. The couple’s children are not scheduled to appear at any public functions, and details regarding their private time remain confidential.
