Ukrainian forces carried out a missile strike against an artillery manufacturing facility in the Russian city of Volgograd on Friday night, demonstrating a continued escalation in Kyiv’s campaign to hit targets deep within Russian territory. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the operation via social media, stating that so-called Flamingo missiles successfully struck the “Titan-Barricade” industrial site. The attack resulted in a fire breaking out across the facility grounds.

Zelenskyy described the targeted location as a critical industrial complex responsible for the production of artillery systems and specialized military hardware, including components for missile launchers that have been utilized in attacks against Ukrainian civilians. He emphasized that any Russian defense installation supporting the ongoing war against Ukraine represents a legitimate objective for long-range defensive actions.

The governor of the Volgograd region, Andrey Bocharov, acknowledged the strike in a message posted to Telegram. He reported that the attack resulted in one fatality—a worker at the factory—and left 11 other individuals with injuries.

This strike follows a series of recent Ukrainian operations targeting Russian infrastructure. Earlier this month, drone attacks hit various locations in and around Moscow, resulting in a fire at an oil refinery and causing a temporary suspension of all arrivals and departures at the four major airports serving the Russian capital. Furthermore, Ukraine has intensified its efforts against Russian-occupied Crimea this week, utilizing drones to disable power infrastructure in Sevastopol, the largest city on the occupied peninsula.
