A total of 14 people lost their lives following a helicopter crash in Saudi Arabia, according to reports released by state media on Sunday.

The aircraft, which was operated by the state-owned oil giant Aramco, went down in the eastern coastal city of Ras Tanura at approximately 06:00 local time, which corresponds to 03:00 GMT. Official information from the Saudi Press Agency confirmed that every individual on board perished in the incident.

Reports indicated that all 14 victims were citizens of Saudi Arabia. Authorities have launched an investigation into the matter to ascertain the specific circumstances and causes behind the fatal crash. At this time, Aramco has not provided any official comments regarding the tragedy.

The Saudi energy ministry has expressed its formal condolences to the families of those who died in the accident. The site of the crash, Ras Tanura, serves as the location for a major oil refinery belonging to Aramco, standing as one of the largest facilities of its kind in the Middle East.

Recent reports from the Reuters news agency noted that operations at the refinery, specifically the loading of crude oil, had only recently resumed on Friday. This followed a suspension period that lasted nearly four months, which had been implemented due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East region.
