Lisbeth founded EUobserver in 2000 and currently oversees the organization’s strategic direction, planning, and performance as a member of the board. A graduate of the Danish School of Media and Journalism, she brings extensive experience as a journalist, editor, and analyst for various Danish media outlets.

The newsroom is composed of experienced reporters with diverse international backgrounds. Andrew, who is Polish and grew up in the UK, has covered foreign and security affairs for the publication since 2005, contributing his expertise alongside work for The Guardian, The Telegraph, and The Times of London. Nikolaj, who joined the team in 2012, focuses on home affairs. Originally from Denmark with a background in France and Belgium, he was recognized for his investigative work with the King Baudouin Foundation grant in 2010.

Matthew, who joined in June 2018, adds significant international editorial experience having previously worked as a reporter for The Guardian in London and as an editor for AFP in Paris and DPA in Berlin. Benjamin, a seasoned reporter and editor, also contributes to the team following his tenure at the Brussels-based publication Euractiv, with a portfolio that includes reporting for The Guardian, The East African, Private Eye, and Africa Confidential.

The team also features specialized reporting on modern sectors. Wester, a Dutch journalist focused on the green economy, joined in September 2021. He previously served as editor-in-chief of the science-focused website Motherboard and as a climate economy journalist for The Correspondent. Alejandro, who joined in September 2022, is based in Amsterdam and brings a deep background in tech and science reporting. He is of Ecuadorian, German, and American descent, and previously held roles as an editor at VICE’s Motherboard and as a publisher for TNW. Elena, who joined in 2019, rounds out the team; originally from Spain, she studied journalism and new media in both Spain and Belgium, and previously worked on European affairs for VoteWatch Europe and the news agency EFE.
