Prince Harry is set to visit London next week to mark the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games, but he will be making the trip without his wife, Meghan, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet. A source close to the Duke of Sussex confirmed the change in travel plans on Saturday, noting that while the prince is heading to the capital for engagements, the arrangements for the rest of his visit remain under consideration. It remains unclear if the family might reunite outside of London later in the trip.
The 41-year-old prince, who founded the Invictus Games in 2014 to support wounded veterans, is scheduled to attend multiple charity events during his multiday visit this month. While reports from The Sun suggested the couple had initially hoped to visit a London hospital together, the source indicated that Harry will now attend such engagements alone, citing security reasons. The upcoming games are slated to take place from July 10 to 17, 2027.
Security concerns have been a recurring issue for the Duke, who previously lost a legal battle to have full police protection restored for his family during visits to the U.K. Harry has expressed significant reservations about the safety of his family in Britain, stating previously that it was impossible to bring them back safely. The BBC reported that Buckingham Palace has not offered additional security for this visit, despite previous indications that the family might be hosted at royal residences or as guests of King Charles III.
The royal family has faced a period of strained relations since Harry and Meghan stepped back from their duties and relocated to North America in 2020. Tensions were further exacerbated by the publication of Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” and various ongoing legal battles. While Harry has expressed a desire to reconcile with his father, it is uncertain if they will meet during this trip. The prince last met briefly with the 77-year-old King, who is currently receiving treatment for an undisclosed cancer, at Clarence House in September 2025.
