During the recent Nato summit in Turkey, Donald Trump delivered a series of sharp remarks regarding Iran, suggesting that the United States would likely hit the nation hard again. Trump emphasized his concern over the potential for nuclear escalation, stating, “And if they had a nuclear weapon, they’d use it. As far as I’m concerned, it’s over.”
These comments are part of a broader, fluctuating narrative maintained by the former president. His public stance has frequently shifted, moving between claims of decisive victory, intense rhetoric about the potential annihilation of Iranian civilization, and a stated support for ongoing negotiations. He has remained vocal throughout the process, providing a running commentary on the war and the memorandum of understanding (MOU) currently under negotiation.
While there is little doubt regarding the military capacity of the United States to inflict significant damage on Iran, such force has proven insufficient in breaking the regime’s resolve. The Iranian leadership continues to stand firm on its fundamental demands, most notably regarding the control of navigation through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
