White House Launches 25 Freedom Fuel Gas Stations in Philadelphia

The White House has officially launched 25 Freedom Fuel gas stations, all providing gasoline at a price of $3.47 per gallon. This initiative was announced on July 7 through a video posted on X, which featured customers expressing appreciation to President Donald Trump for his efforts to lower fuel costs.

According to information provided to USA TODAY on Tuesday, July 7, these stations are situated within the greater Philadelphia area. The specific locations for these outlets are currently available for public viewing on the company’s website.

This development arrives as Americans remain concerned about pump prices ahead of the upcoming midterm elections in November. Despite the introduction of these stations, the $3.47 rate remains only marginally lower than the national average, which was recorded at $3.79 on the same day by AAA data.

Earlier this year, gas prices saw a steady increase across all 50 states, with the national average approaching $5 per gallon in May. Data from fuel industry analyst GasBuddy indicated significant price spikes in states such as Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois. These fluctuations were largely tied to the cost of crude oil, which surged due to the U.S.-Iran war. Global market trading saw Brent crude rise by more than 55%, hitting nearly $120 a barrel, a spike driven by shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

The International Energy Agency reported that in 2025, approximately 34% of the world’s crude oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz. Following a tentative agreement between the United States and Iran in June to end the conflict and reopen the strait, gasoline prices began to trend downward.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration notes that pump prices are primarily determined by four key factors: distribution and marketing, refining costs, crude oil prices, and both federal and state taxes. As of July 7, AAA data showed that Hawaii, Washington, and California experienced average gas prices exceeding $5 per gallon, while Oklahoma, Texas, and Indiana reported some of the lowest costs in the country.
