In a move described as a shift in Ukraine’s political strategy, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Sunday that a comprehensive reshuffle of the government is underway. The changes will see the appointment of a new prime minister and a renewed Cabinet of Ministers to lead the country.
Zelenskyy confirmed the decision via a post on X, noting that he had consulted with the current Prime Minister, Yuliia Svyrydenko, regarding the transition. Expressing his gratitude for her service, the President stated, “I am grateful to Yuliia for her clear, steady, and effective work as Prime Minister, for her years of productive service on Ukraine’s team, and I have offered her the opportunity to lead a new and important area of relations with a key partner.” Svyrydenko, who has held the premiership since 2025, responded on social media by stating she remains ready to serve the Ukrainian state.
While the President did not disclose specific details regarding Svyrydenko’s future role or the identity of her successor, the overhaul is expected to proceed soon. Under Ukrainian law, any cabinet changes require approval from the parliament. Historically, lawmakers have maintained strong support for Zelenskyy’s agenda since the onset of the Russian invasion in February 2022, and are not expected to block these planned appointments.
The announcement follows a period of heightened hostilities, with local authorities reporting that Russian attacks on the Dnipropetrovsk region resulted in at least three fatalities overnight. Additionally, Yaroslav Shanko, head of the Kherson City Military Administration, confirmed that a separate drone strike in Kherson claimed the life of one person. Amid these developments, leaders from the “Coalition of the Willing” are scheduled to convene in Paris on Monday to discuss potential strategies for ending the ongoing war.
