Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House this coming Tuesday, according to a White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity on Friday. The meeting takes place as part of a renewed push to find a resolution to the four-year war between Ukraine and Russia.
The diplomatic effort comes at a time when US-led initiatives to conclude the conflict have faced delays, with Washington recently shifting its strategic focus toward the ongoing tension with Iran. President Zelenskyy noted earlier this week that he has already engaged in discussions with Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, and the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, in an attempt to revive stalled negotiations.
The relationship between the two leaders has experienced significant fluctuations, spanning from a heated confrontation in the Oval Office in February 2025 to a more conciliatory tone in recent months. In a further sign of shifting dynamics, the Ukrainian president met this week with Laura Loomer, a right-wing US influencer and ally of Donald Trump. Loomer, who has millions of social media followers, expressed a change in perspective regarding the conflict, stating, "This is everyday for every Ukrainian, I feel like such an a**hole for minimizing the struggle of Ukrainians for the last five years." President Trump acknowledged the meeting on Thursday by reposting one of Loomer's social media updates with the caption, "Very good!!"
The upcoming meeting is set for the same day as a scheduled memorial service in Washington for the late US Senator Lindsey Graham, a long-term supporter of Ukraine who passed away earlier this month at age 71. Additionally, President Trump is expected to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the same Tuesday.
The 33-year-old conservative commentator, who has millions of social media followers, has recently softened her stance on Ukraine.
